Central England Open Success
On Sunday 3rd July we took a squad to the annual Central England Championships at the impressive University of Worcester Arena.
This is a very tough championship to medal at historically and this year proved no different. For a number of junior and novice squad members it was the first time competing outside of shobu ippon rules and into WKF rules and for many others the first time at this level of competition. However, a great spirit prevailed from everyone in the squad whether they won or not.
We eventually came away with 3 Gold medals, 1 Silver medal and 3 Bronze medals. Congratulations to all medalists:
Gold
Girls Kata 9 years and under - Isabella Wilkes
Mens Kata 35 Years and over - Sharaf Ebrahami
Mens Team Kata - Johann Santos (Part of JKS England Squad)
Silver
Team Kata 12 years and under - Joshua Meade, Isabella Wilkes and Thomas Elmore
Bronze
Female Kumite +61kg - Tanya Handley
Mens Kata 35 Years and over - Marlon Amulong
Mens Kata Beginner to 4th Kyu - Marlon Amulong
A big thank you to John Santos, Paul Stanley and Lewis Bradbury for coaching on the day and finally a massive thank you to all family, friend and colleagues who cam to support the team.
