Outstanding day for the squad
On Sunday 6th May, twenty-three squad members headed south to Western-Super-Mare for the WKU Open invitational which is an excellent standard and well run competition.
The team did extremely well overall and we saw some outstanding performances from many of the members.
A big thank you to John Santos and Paul Stanley for coaching at the event and also to the family members and friends who went along to support the team.
All twenty-three team members acquitted themselves superbly on the day, whether they medallled or not. We finished the day with a superb 8 Gold, 6 Silver and 12 Bronze medals. It was very pleasing that seventeen of the twenty-three strong squad medalled. A special mention must go to Louis Powell who won four golds on the day in every event he entered. Simply brilliant. Congratulations yet again to Johann Santos and Sharaf Ebrahimi who continue to show excellent and consistency in their respective kata events. Highlight of the day was Ynno Angeles, Ean Pabinguit and Louis Powell for their success in the hotly contested Boys Kumite team. Feedback has been superb about these guys as a team. Another highlight was in the large category of Male Kata Up to 15 Years (Black Belt) where Walsall took all four medal positions!
Overall an outstanding day for the Walsall Karate Dojo squad!
