Success at the KSE Championships
Sunday 25th February was a busy day for our squad. Our best eight Kumite competitors and JKS England squad members travelled up to Leeds for a squad training session with JKS England National Coaches Matt Price Sensei and Nick Heald Sensei.
From the rest of the squad we selected nineteen to head off to Gloucester for the annual KSE Invitational Championships. This was a very well run and high quality competition with many of England and Wales top competitors in attendance.
Overall we had a very strong performance in kata with many medals in many categories with lots of promising performances. In Kumite we were not as strong, partly due to our main competitors being at JKS England squad training, but also with many learning points to come away with and hard work to do for the more novice kumite competitors to step up.
Our final medal tally was 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 6 Bronze.
Congratulations to all medallists and well done to all squad members who put themselves on the mat to gain invaluable experience. Thank you to all family and supporters who made the trip and finally a huge thank you to John Santos and Paul Stanley for assisting with coaching during the long day.
